Disneyland 2009

Though not quite as exciting as last year's trip to Disneyland with the proposal, Dave and I still enjoyed a magical trip to the Happiest Place on Earth! We flew out on my birthday (the 19th) and Dave good naturedly had my birthday dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. Yes, it sounds like a kids' place (which it mostly is), but they have a mighty good buffet - prime rib, salmon, yummy mashed potatoes, salads, and a scrumptious dessert bar. We played the "pantomime game" with the costumed characters (insert a rubbing of the tummy and telling Goofy he makes the world's best dinner!)

A fun new temporary addition at Disneyland is "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee" that celebrates the new Disney movie "The Princess and the Frog". What a toe-tapping show with loads of New Orleans jazz music. It begins with a parade from New Orleans Square to the Mark Twain boat and continues on the riverboat. We both thoroughly enjoyed this production, which sadly ends sometime in January.

I enjoyed the changes to "Small World". They added Disney characters into some of their respective lands - Alice in England, Cinderella in France, Woody in the U.S., and even Ariel "under the sea". The incorporations were seamless and added a sweet dimension to an attraction that I already like - although I'm probably one of the few who can listen to that song over and over again and not tire of it!

The parks were the busiest we've seen (and we've seen a lot of park days over the years!), but we made the best of it. Hey, we had nowhere else to go! The weather was good and it was another successful trip to the House of Mouse.
