This past year was so full of joyful memories - Melissa (and Alyssa's) college graduation, Ryan finishing his EMT training, both children's weddings, our 25th anniversary, and finishing with the announcement that we will become first-time grandparents in August! Here is a recap of 2009:
January - We hosted an engagement party for Kyle and Melissa.
February - Annual Harper ladies' weekend at the ocean.
March - Dave's 48th birthday (19th)
- Ryan finished his emergency medical technician training through Tacoma Community College, then later that month moved down to Salem, Oregon and shared an apartment with two other guys through Corban.
- Dave and I went to New York City during my spring break.
April - Ryan's 20th birthday (27th)
May - Melissa (and Alyssa) graduated from Corban College with degrees in elementary education (2nd).
- Ryan proposed to Alyssa at Benham Falls in Bend, Oregon and she happily accepted (22nd).
June - Kyle's 23rd birthday (12th) and Dad's 70th birthday (also the 12th)
- Melissa had a few bridal showers.
July - Our 25th silver anniversary (7th)
- Kyle and Melissa are married at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church in Gig Harbor (18th)
August - Dave and I celebrated our anniversary a little late on a Disney cruise that stops at St. Martin, St. Thomas, and Castaway Cay.
- My mom, Melissa, and I hosted a bridal shower for Alyssa.
September - Ryan and Alyssa are married at her family home in Bend, Oregon (19th)
November - Melissa's 24th birthday (20th)
- Ryan and Alyssa are here for Thanksgiving. Kyle and Melissa have Thanksgiving dinner at the Hancocks', but are over to visit.
December - We find out Ryan and Alyssa are going to make us grandparents on or around August 18th.
- Dave and I visit Disneyland.
- My 48th birthday (19th)
- Kyle and Melissa spend Christmas with us, my parents, and the Buckleys. Ryan and Alyssa are in Bend for Christmas.
- Alyssa's 24th birthday (26th)
