A New Job Adventure

24 years - That's how long Dave has been at Ecolab. Over the past several months Dave's workload and travel had increased considerably and there was no end to the crazy schedule. He was becoming increasingly tired and frustrated. On the way home from a trip to Oregon one day in August, he stopped in to do some routine work at one of his accounts in the Olympia area - Sterile Surgical Systems. As he was working on his computer, he and the owner of the company got to talking. Dave told him about his workload and one thing led to another. Greg, the owner of Sterile Surgical, didn't realize part of Dave's job at Ecolab was in sales and he lit up when he found out. He told Dave he has been wanting to hire a salesperson to increase his growing laundry business even more. Their conversation led to a talk of a potential job opportunity for Dave.

To make a long story short, Dave told me about their conversation, he and Greg sent offers and counter-offers back regarding a job position as Director of Sales, and with lots of prayer by us and others going into this major decision, he decided to take the offer and resign from Ecolab. I had the opportunity prior to this decision to meet Greg and his wife for dinner and ask the questions I had. Because change is really hard for me, especially something of this magnitude, I wanted to make sure God's direction was clear. Sometimes I wish He would just drop the answer down from the sky! We pray the Lord will bless this decision and will guide Dave as he adjusts to a new job and career after such a long time at Ecolab. His first day was October 1st.

*As a sidebar, Dave has no ill feelings towards Ecolab at all and enjoyed his time there. He and his boss John left on great terms and intend to keep in contact with each other.
