The night before our Haiti trip we stayed in Miami. When I was in first grade during the 1968-1969 school year, we lived in Miami while my dad got his Master's Degree at the University of Miami. Since this was the 1st time I had been back there since we lived there, I had to go find my old stomping grounds! Our apartment and school (Sunset Elementary) were just up the road from our hotel. Believe it or not, things looked very similar to what I remembered in my head! If we had more time, I would have loved to have gone to Key Biscayne beach, Seaquarium, Parrot Jungle, and Fort Lauderdale - all places with fond memories for me!
