Yesterday, Kathy Reichstein and Bonnie Corbin (with assistance from the lovely Kaitlyn Corbin) hosted a bridal shower for Melissa. Kathy was my kindergarten teaching partner for many years and Bonnie and I have been teaching together for the past 9 years. Kathy was also Melissa's kindergarten teacher and she wanted to give her a shower with staff from Orchard Heights whom Melissa knew well. It was a luncheon held at Kathy's home and it was very delightful! We had a delicious lunch of crab salad, spinach/strawberry salad, rolls, fruit salad, strawberry dessert pizza, and key lime pie.
Bonnie organized the games. The first one had three presents given to three random people. She read a story and every time it said "left" or "right", the people had to pass the gifts in that direction until the end of the story. Those with the gifts in their hands at the end were the winners. The other game was unscrambling bridal words.
Melissa, again, received so many nice gifts. Those present were: Melissa, Gayle Hancock (Kyle's mom), Ann Jannison (current Title 1 teacher and Melissa's 1st grade teacher), Julie Hensley (para educator - worked in my class 3 years ago), Sue Witt (3rd grade teacher), Donna Lowe (Title 1 teacher), my mom, Esther Bulthuis (office assistant and Harper Church friend), Kimberly Powell (2nd grade teacher), Bonnie Corbin (2nd grade teacher), Kaitlyn Corbin (Bonnie's daughter), Kathy Reichstein (retired kindergarten teacher), and me.
