On Saturday, July 24th Alyssa's stepdad Kent Couch and Kent's friend John Freis went up on another lawn chair balloon flight, taking off from Kent's Shell station in Bend, Oregon. Ryan and Alyssa went down for the launch. Kent has done two previous flights - in 2007 and 2008, with the 2008 one landing him in Idaho. This time the two men were in separate lawn chairs and were racing - the first ever. They landed in eastern Oregon. "Good Morning America" did a skype interview with them this morning.
Kent is an adventurous soul and took Ryan on a level 4 whitewater rafting trip over the 4th of July weekend. Ryan told me (afterwards!) that they passed memorial markers of people who had lost their lives on that course! Life will never be dull!!
