Yesterday, Melissa, Alyssa, Mom, and I (along with Scout!) went to Alki Beach in West Seattle. This has been my favorite Washington beach since childhood...sand, festive atmosphere, fun restaurants, and a sweeping view of downtown Seattle and the Space Needle. We ate lunch at the very yummy Alki Bakery and followed it up with a walk along the beach. We started at the bakery and made it just short of the water taxi launch - probably 5-6 miles roundtrip. The 2 expectant mommies were booking it and left the 2 older moms in the dust! My mom was quite impressive, too! I hope I can walk that far when I'm in my 70s!
